U2 To Perform on “Saturday Night Live” September 26th Premiere
9/2/09, 5:19 pm EST
U2 will serve as the musical guest on the season premiere of Saturday Night Live on September 26th, cast member Bill Hader told Access Hollywood. The band’s performance will come just two days after the Dublin rockers bring their 360° Tour to two sold-out nights at East Rutherford, New Jersey’s Giants Stadium. Jennifer’s Body star Megan Fox will handle the hosting duties on the premiere.
U2’s upcoming performance on SNL will mark the third time Bono, the Edge, Larry Mullen Jr. and Adam Clayton have played Rockefeller Center’s Studio 8H. The No Line on the Horizon band made their SNL debut on a December 9th, 2000 episode hosted by Val Kilmer, then returned when Luke Wilson hosted on November 20th, 2004.

U2 will take a break from playing stadiums on its current tour to do a couple songs in a smaller venue -- the "Saturday Night Live" studio.
The band, which is in the midst of touring in support of its album "No Line on the Horizon" and playing the likes of Giants Stadium and the Rose Bowl, will be the musical guest on the "SNL" season premiere on Sept. 26. They'll join host Megan Fox on the show.
That, at least, is the word from "SNL" cast member Bill Hader, who told "Access Hollywood" that U2 would be part of the season premiere. NBC hasn't issued official word yet; an announcement from the network is expected next week.
U2 will be making its third appearance on the show. The band previously performed on "Saturday Night Live" in 2000 and 2004. The timing works out as well; the band is playing two shows at Giants Stadium in New Jersey on Sept. 23 and 24 but has open dates until a performance in Washington on Sept. 29.

Lorne Michaels ain't playing around as he launches the 35th season of "Saturday Night Live" with a killer combination of Irish-American actress Megan Fox and our very own U2 on September 26.
Cast member Bill Hader told "Access Hollywood" that the sex siren and the rulers of rock were going to present and guest star on the season opener later this month.
Fox will be plugging her movie "Jennifer's Body" and the fantastic four will be in the the area as their "No Line On the Horizon" world tour hits Giants Stadium on September 23 and 24.
Fox recently told Cosmopolitan that she likes to be in charge when it comes to the opposite sex.
"I never call them guys," she said. "I always call them boys. Maybe its a superiority complex - my need to keep them down."
Luckily enough all the band are spoken for - wait a minute, isn't Adam Clayton looking for love? Click here to read about it.
And hasn't Megan Fox said she likes older men? Stranger things have happened . . .
Guess we'll have to tune in on the night to see if any sparks fly!
