EuroTour: biking for the Lisbon Treaty.
Article Added by Chary
Thanks to an intrepid friend of EuropeanIrish, called Almudena, we heard about José, a Madrid man living in Brussels who is currently biking through many Irish towns and cities as part of a group of about thirty people all from different countries. This is an initiative promoted by the “Ireland for Europe” movement, the aim of which is to call for the “yes” vote for Europe in the upcoming elections on the 2nd of October in relation to the Lisbon Treaty. This EuroTour is scheduled to pass through some of the biggest cities in Ireland, such as Dublin, Cork, Limerick, Carlow and some other towns in the south and south-west of the country and will cover a total of over 700 kilometres.
Some very well-known people are due to participate in this cycle, for example Seamus Heaney (Nobel prize for literature), Pat Cox (ex-President of the European Parliament), Robbie Keane (captain of the Irish soccer team), Jim Sheridan (film director, “In the Name of the Father”) or the Edge (guitarist with U2).
